Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt in our big 2026 comparison: coverage, 5G, speed and the cheapest plans on each network.
Switzerland has three mobile networks: Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt. All three cover more than 99% of the population and offer 5G. For most users in cities and suburban areas, it doesn't matter which network they use. All three are excellent.
Differences mainly show up in remote mountain regions (where Swisscom leads), in 5G speeds (where Sunrise often comes out on top) and in price. Dozens of cheap providers (so-called MVNOs) ride on one of the three networks and offer the same network quality at much lower prices.
Only numbers you can recalculate. Antenna sites come from the Federal Office of Communications database, prices and provider counts from our own weekly-checked data. What a network delivers at one specific address, none of these numbers say. They show who built how much.

Three things to know.
Site count is not coverage. A mast on flat land serves many times the area of one in a valley. Reading network quality off the count is bad maths.
The 5G share is given per power class, and for a reason. Averaged across all sites it produces a misleading figure: Swisscom runs four times as many small cells as Salt, and those are converted to 5G less often. That drags the average down and reverses the order. So the comparison only happens within the same class.
The technology comes from the permit sheet, it does not say what is actually switched on.
