Salt price increase on 1 June 2026: which plans got pricier and what to do

On 1 June 2026, Salt raised the prices of 14 mobile plans by CHF 1 to 3. Salt frames the change like this: 'The absolute value and duration of your discount remain unchanged.' What that really means, which plans are affected, and what you can do.

What changed on 1 June 2026

On its official price-adjustment page, Salt announced the following 14 mobile plans:

What Salt says, and what it really means

In its official notice, Salt frames the change with the following sentence:

'The absolute value and duration of your discount remain unchanged.'
, Salt, price adjustment of 1 June 2026

It sounds reassuring: the discount supposedly stays the same. Mechanically, though, it means the discount amount in francs stays the same but is now applied to a higher list price. As a customer, you effectively pay more.

Example Salt Europe XL:

  • Before: list price CHF 94.95, with promo CHF 35.95
  • After: list price CHF 96.95, with promo CHF 37.95
  • Effective extra cost: +CHF 2 per month = +CHF 24 per year

Salt is not alone with this mechanic. Sunrise, yallo, Lebara and TalkTalk are also adjusting prices in 2026 along the same pattern. Here is the full analysis of the four waves of 2026.

What can you do now?

Three options:

Option 1: use the extraordinary right of termination

With any unilateral change to the contract you have a statutory extraordinary right of termination of 30 days from the announcement. Salt typically communicates the change with the May bill. So whoever gets the information now can cancel until roughly early June, without a penalty fee.

How to proceed:

  1. Keep Salt's notice (it shows the announcement date)
  2. Send written termination to Salt customer service, referencing the unilateral contract change
  3. Pick a new provider in parallel, request number porting (free, 1 to 3 business days)

Option 2: stay with Salt but switch plan

If you value Salt's network quality but find your current plan too expensive, you can switch within Salt. Salt has 13 mobile plans, some of which are not affected by the increase (Prepaid, PrePay).

Salt direct plans with promo (effective price) currently remain attractive:

  • Salt Surf Unlimited: CHF 19.95 (promo from CHF 39.95), unlimited Switzerland
  • Salt Start Max: CHF 12.95 (promo from CHF 42.95, new list price from 1 June)

Option 3: switch to a cheaper MVNO on the Salt network

Three MVNO providers use the identical Salt network and are significantly cheaper:

ProviderPlanPrice/mo.DataContract
spusu spusu 10 CHF 9.90 10 GB + 5G Monthly contract
Lidl Connect Surf & Call (promo) CHF 10.90 Unlimited Switzerland Monthly contract
GoMo GoMo Basis CHF 12.95 Unlimited Switzerland + 3 GB EU Monthly contract
GoMo GoMo+ (true unlimited) CHF 14.95 Unlimited Switzerland, no cap Monthly contract

Plus: anyone who does not strictly need the Salt network will find Switzerland's cheapest truly unlimited plan at Digital Republic Flat Swiss (CHF 13/mo., Sunrise network).

Who is affected, who is not?

Affected:

  • Existing Salt Max, Salt Digital and Smart plan customers
  • New customers signing up from 1 June 2026
  • Promo customers also pay the higher effective price (the discount amount stays nominal, the list price rises)

Not affected:

  • PrePay offers (prepaid cards)
  • Device bundles
  • Option prices (e.g. Apple Watch SIM, day pass)
  • MVNO customers at spusu, GoMo, Lidl Connect, Lycamobile, iWay (same network infrastructure, different provider)
