Lebara price increase on 1 August 2026: what we know and what you can do now

Lebara has announced a price change for its mobile plans on 1 August 2026. Lebara communicates the details on a support subpage that is hard to find from the main page. handyabo.com sums up what is known and shows you alternatives, especially for cheap international calls.

What we know so far

Lebara Switzerland has announced a price change on the official support page 'Price adjustment as of 1 August 2026'. Lebara discloses few details publicly (the detailed list of affected plans is communicated to existing customers with the bill).

Confirmed by Lebara's communication:

  • Effective date: 1 August 2026
  • Affected are mobile plans on the Sunrise network
  • Extraordinary right of termination: 30 days from the announcement

Lebara uses the Sunrise network but, as an international MVNO, is independent of the Sunrise group. The change happens in parallel with the Sunrise price increase on the same date and the yallo price increase.

Lebara plans in our database (status before the change)

Before the price change, handyabo.com lists the following Lebara mobile plans:

PlanPrice/mo.DataContract
Lebara SwissCHF 13.95 (promo)10 GBMonthly contract
Lebara NextCHF 13.95 (promo, from 36.95)Unlimited SwitzerlandMonthly contract

Lebara specialises in Swiss diaspora communities (cheap calls to India, Turkey, ex-Yugoslavia, Africa, Latin America). Plus: Lebara supports Apple Watch eSIM via the Smartwatch Double option, which is not possible at many smaller MVNOs (spusu, GoMo, Mucho).

In context: four telco waves in 2026 (6 providers)

Lebara is part of a larger movement:

DateProviderIncrease
1 April 2026Swisscom+CHF 1.90
1 May 2026TalkTalk+CHF 1 to 3
1 June 2026Salt+CHF 1 to 2
1 August 2026Sunrise, yallo, Lebara+CHF 0.75 to 1.50 (Sunrise specifically)

All four providers frame the change with the discount-stays language. Mechanically, that means: the discount amount in francs stays nominally the same but is applied to a higher list price. Effectively, customers pay more. Here is the full analysis.

What can you do now?

Option 1: use the extraordinary right of termination

With any unilateral change to the contract you have a statutory extraordinary right of termination of 30 days from the announcement.

How to proceed:

  1. Wait for the official notice from Lebara (typically with the June or July bill)
  2. Keep the notice (it shows the announcement date)
  3. Send written termination to Lebara customer service, referencing the extraordinary right of termination
  4. Pick a new provider in parallel, request number porting (free, 1 to 3 business days)

Option 2: stay with Lebara (for international calls)

If you use Lebara for cheap calls to your home country, switching often does not make sense. Lebara's strength is not the base price but the diaspora rates (India, Turkey, ex-Yugoslavia, Africa, Latin America). The price change of +CHF 1 to 1.50 is often acceptable compared with the roaming costs saved.

Option 3: the direct alternative Lycamobile

Lycamobile uses the Salt network (instead of Sunrise like Lebara) but is directly comparable as a diaspora MVNO:

ProviderNetworkBest offerApple Watch
Lebara Sunrise Lebara Swiss CHF 13.95 (promo) Yes (Smartwatch Double)
Lycamobile Salt Hello Swiss S from CHF 14.90 No

Option 4: if no international calls are needed, switch to a cheaper Sunrise MVNO

If you use Lebara mainly for Swiss data (not for calls abroad), cheaper alternatives are available:

ProviderPlanPrice/mo.DataContract
Digital Republic Flat Swiss CHF 13.00 Unlimited + 2 GB EU Monthly contract
Aldi Mobile (promo until 31 May) Swiss Unlimited CHF 11.90 Unlimited Switzerland Monthly contract
Galaxus Mobile CH unlimited CHF 19.00 Unlimited Switzerland Monthly contract

Who is affected, who is not?

Probably affected (Lebara's communication does not give a complete list):

  • Existing Lebara Mobile postpaid customers
  • International Lebara rates (India bundles, Turkey bundles, etc.)
  • Promo customers pay proportionally more

Probably not affected:

  • Lebara Prepaid (separate rate structure)

For the exact list, you should wait for the official notice from Lebara or ask Lebara customer service directly.

Methodology and sources

The information about the price change was taken from the official Lebara support page. A complete detailed list per plan is not publicly available at the time of our research.

handyabo.com compares all 22 Swiss mobile providers weekly and independently of affiliate relationships. As soon as Lebara publishes the detailed list, we will update this page.
